Things that should be arriving today - a ‘66 Chevelle brake release handle. Because it’s chrome and has the right font to replace the *completely missing* handle assembly in my ‘63 Ford, due to reasons.

It’s about the same size and shape, so... Anyway, it’s to go with bezels that look like this:
Most handles are black plastic, and I’ve got zero other black plastic going on - and this is about the only handle out there with chrome and embossed. The original looked like this:
...but nobody has it outside of the full assembly, and full assemblies are in the hundreds of dollars.

I’m pretty sure I have one in my ‘63 parts car , but it’s at my dad’s farm 1,500 miles away...

A previous owner committed an act of total
clowndom and *literally broke the handle and rod off*. Granted, the handle pushes down to release instead of just pulling, so I can see the mistake
but I still call “moron”. T
o even use a stock handle I would have to modify what I’ve got, and to which I’ve already welded a nut - because the pivoting piece to which the rod attaches is what’s broken, and it attaches to the assembly with a big riveted pin
. Long story short, other than wanting it
looking *exactly*
right or swapping the whole assembly to *be* right
there’s no longer any
actual reason to use the stock handle.

I think you can reasonably apply for a dispensation to use a Chevy part on a Ford under these circumstances.

It’s just one teeny little part. It’s wafer thin.

Now you’ve done it. Everything will explode as soon as you put it in.
